  • Trends and Issues in the Voluntary Sector
  • A Youth Leadership Perspective

This document was prepared as a collaborative effort among the participants of Leadership Connext 2005, a school for youth leaders held in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario which was funded by the Branscombe Family Foundation and delivered by the Centre for Community Leadership at Niagara College.

Twenty-eight (28) youth leaders reviewed thirty-one (31) papers (or excerpts thereof) that focused on issues and trends in the voluntary sector in Canada. Two additional resources were reviewed by the facilitators and quoted in this paper. The complete list of reviewed resources can be found in the Bibliography section of this paper.

The e-learning assignment was to review one or two of 35 online documents and then to post a précis on the Leadership Connext portal. The resources were selected and posted by the Connext developers and facilitators (Lyn Russo and Glory Ressler). The most current (as of May 2005) and comprehensive material by reliable sources, concerning the voluntary sector and youth, was chosen.
